Review of the Hunter 35.5 by Robert Garrett

Year built 1995
Location of boat Palacios, Texas
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I only wish I had bought it new in 1995 to have had the extra years with her.
Gear that's been added No, she was loaded when I bought her. She has a GPS-Chartplotter, full enclosure, sun screens, and reverse cycle ac/heat.
Structural or complex improvements Restitched bimini and enclosure
The boat's best features She may way very easily in light and moderate air. She screams in heavy air with a reefed main. She handles, she points, andshe backs well under power.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The bilge pump float switches have both failed twice during my one year with her.
Sailing characterisitcs She points well to wind. She comes about with a turn of the wheel. She has moderate weather helm. I am able to trim out most weather helm by adjusting the main.
Motoring characterisitcs She motors well and backs extremely well. I was able to stern to the first time I tried. She cruises at 7.5 knots at 2200 RPM.
Liveability M wife and I are extremely comfortable for weeks at a time aboard. We have added an air mattress to the aft berth. It is very comfortable.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) My emails have been promptly answered.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The dealer was very helpful. I have had dealings with him for 10 years am have been a repeat customer.
Other comments My wife and I are very pleased with this boat.
