Review of the Hunter 336 by Kees Koopman

Year built 1996
Location of boat Mediteranian / Mallorca / Spain
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Multi-week coastal cruising
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I think so, yes.
Gear that's been added We want to give her running back stays. So in higher waves and reeved we can support the mast, and when sailing in strong winds, without main we can support te roller gear (fors stay) She got direct after I was the owner a folding prop. 17 x 12 stainless from Australia - brand: "Slipstraem" Asweel we mounted a electrical coversion on the head.
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features The "Living on" confort, in the harbour aswel at sea. The easy making speed caracteristics.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The mast collar blocks are the cheapest version you can find, and this makes te setting of the (big) main for us (sailors who are together 120 year old) a problem. The friction in this blocks is enorm...
Sailing characterisitcs She sails even with small canvas ahead fast, and always over 4 knots.
Motoring characterisitcs The 27 Hp Yanmar is a fine engine, but in the med (with so many days without wind or really storms) it should be fine to have a little bit more power... 35 Hp ?
Liveability fantastic
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) x
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Direct from a verry enthousiastic first owner, who bought now a Bavaria from 12,5 meters. And after all he is still in love with "his" 336.(!)
