Review of the Hunter 27_75-84 by Steve Cook

Owner bought the boat in 1997  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, Great value and alot of boat for the buck.  
Gear that's been added Hood Seafurl roller, re-cut the 155 geny, added 1  
Structural or complex improvements Shortened the head-stay by one inch to help with the back-stay adjuster, (the boat has real bad weather helm)Added a battery issolator and smart charger  
The boat's best features Safe!!! the boat is the most stable boat that I have sailed, I have sailed it in 35 kt winds and 5ft. waves and never felt that I was in any danger.Lots of cabin room and a great weekender boat. With my wife and our 2 teen boys, we have room for the weekend.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. weather helm!!!!!!! real bad and I mean real bad!!!Fixed it by shortting the head stay by one inch adding the back stay adjuster and the boom vang.The ice box is junk in every way other than size.No matter how much ic you put in it, nothing gets cold enough. It drains into the bilge, the bilge is way to shallow.V-birth could be alittle bigger,(I'm 6'1  
Sailing characterisitcs Really, all around, she sails very well. You will not win any races however, you will keep up with the pack.In short, smooth and very stable.  
Motoring characterisitcs Oh Dear!!!!! Oh God!!! are we their yet?Scotty I must have more power now, Give me warp speed.Wait!!! it get worse, my 1980 has a Renault 8hp.try finding parts for it.5.9knots flank speed.Great on fuel. 3/4 gaal per hr.  
Liveability Great weekender for a couple anymore time then a week would be too much time.With no hot water or a shower and refig. it would be tough.
