Review of the Hunter 26 by Andy Starnes

Year built 1995
Location of boat Cedar Mills Marina Lake Texoma, TX
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes! Great boat. Love to take the wife and kid for overnighters. Weekends.
Gear that's been added This boat was loaded when we bought it.
Structural or complex improvements Some minor things
The boat's best features AC on a 26 foot boat! In Texas we couldn't live without it! The aft berth is huge and so comfortable for a smaller boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Everything works great, we think there might be a small leak over the aft berth....we're hunting it down...should be an easy fix.
Sailing characterisitcs We have only been sailing for a little over a year. It's our first boat. We feel like it is awesome but have not experienced other boat of the same size and how they handle. Our auto-tiller makes it alot easier to singlehand and watch our little boy when sailing.
Motoring characterisitcs Motoring is fine with the 8hp Tohatsu. (Although sometimes I wish we had more hp back there)
Liveability We have stayed a week on our boat and loved it. It is great for a couple with a small child or even two. Anymore people though would probably be a bit crowded.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Ordered some port windows for replacement. Transaction was smooth, no problems.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from an individual.
Other comments We haven't met n unhappy Hunter owner at our Marina!
