Review of the Hunter 27_75-84 by Robert Guarnieri

Year built 1979
Location of boat Branford CT
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in Old
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes I would. This boat has taken me everywhere I wanted to go with no trouble.
Gear that's been added A fresh coat of topside paint, Gps, Vents in the hatches , tiller extension ,AMFM
Structural or complex improvements Rewired the mast for mast and deck lights. Rewired all plugs to GFI
The boat's best features The boat is comfy for two or 3 to stay on but two is the best. I can sail her solo and love to do so
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Like many I have read the port lights leaked like a siv and the stantions leaked also. She sat for 3 years so I am sure that has something to do with it. The yanmar 8hp is not what it needs to be but this is my first dry boat and if I wanted to go fast I would of gone power.
Sailing characterisitcs The vessel preformes outstanding. In gusts it wants to go her own way but that is as much me as it is the boat. Sailing solo is easy with a self reefing jib but the main is a little hard to deal with on your own.
Motoring characterisitcs There needs to be big'r motors. From what I have told the year after mine they went to a 16 hp. That is double what I have. Hey call it motor envy but hey .....
Liveability I have gone on 2 weeker's and had no problem. A little close when the rain came for 3 days but any boat would get like that.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) N/A
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I would have looked a lot more and i fknew what the repairs were going to take would have offered a lot less. I would call it a learning experience and one I will not soon forget
