Review of the Hunter Liberty by Jim Fynes

Year built 2003
Location of boat Sarasota, Fl.
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes.
Gear that's been added
Structural or complex improvements Currently altering the seating arrangements. Moving the center seat forward for better balance when rowing with adult seated in the stern.
The boat's best features Good looking. Light weight. Rows and tracks nicely. I wanted a good rowing dinghy and am well satisfied with this boat. Self bailing is a huge plus. Slips along like a feather.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. If I had a choice, I would eliminate the centerboard well from the boat.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs Don't plan on adding a motor.
Liveability Need a seat cushion when in use.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Excellent.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought new from the local Sarasota dealer and couldn't have been treated better than if I had purchased a 30 footer.
Other comments I bought it for a rowing dinghy just to mess about in a small boat. Love this one. Very stable, self bailing is a big plus, light weight, tracks well. Great value. Pretty boat, looks good just sitting on the dock as well as in the water. That has always been important to me.
