Review of the Hunter 460 by paul smith

Year built 2000
Location of boat Deltaville VA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutley
Gear that's been added GPS chartplotter Davits Washdown system
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Space Layout Comfort No rain leaks Engine acess Service Deck layout
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. 110 AC outlets poorly spaced 5 tiny H2O tanks a pain companionway slide binds Cheesy head and galley fixtures
Sailing characterisitcs Overall-excellent Not much weather helm-boat is easy to trim even in rough weather Doesn't point as well as some I even like the in-mast furling! An easy boat to sail
Motoring characterisitcs An absolute dream - Yanmar is 100% reliable
Liveability Pretty good- comfortable bunks- those crummy water tanks--- Main saloon is comfortable, well lit and well ventilated AC units could use more BTU's Freezer not very cold
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Fair--not much help
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Norton's Yacht Sales-- the perfect dealer;honest, reliable, eager to make it right A pleasure to deal with in every respect
Other comments This is my third Hunter-due mostly to a well built production boat and a world class dealer
