Owner bought the boat in 2004
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, It is a nice boat that is set up well. There is a lot of room inside the boat and it handles well. I wanted a trailerable boat and this is a good boat for that.
Gear that's been added The boat came to me in descent shape with some extras. It already had a Bimini, screens, and a few other nice features. I have added GPS, a Tiller Tamer, and a stereo system. I had to replace the old VHF. I added a bilge pump with a float switch for peace of mind!
Structural or complex improvements Had a leak in the scupper. I painted it over with resin and fixed it. I had to do a lot of calking in some areas. Had to replace the running lights and the ancor light. Still having a problem with the steaming light.
The boat's best features For a 22 foot boat it has a lot of room. I have weekended on it and it was great (I am planning a trip on the first week of June and I will be out for 10 days). I have been on bigger boats that had less room. The boat sails really nice and she has done well in winds steady at 15 and gusting up to 25 (strong wind for this area).
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The sink has been giving me trouble with draining. Not sure if I have fixed it or not. Had to replace the running lights and the ancor light. Hey, this boat is over 20 years old, these things happen. I had to fix the scupper, it was leaking.
Sailing characterisitcs This boat sails nice. I have been out, twice, in some pretty good wind and it has done fine. After 15 knots of wind it is time to reef! It handles the chop nice and sails really nice. I want to add a cruising spinnaker!
Motoring characterisitcs I have a Johnson 4.5 Horsepower engine. I can make over 5.7 knots with it. It does well under engine. In a chop the prop will come out of the water some.
Liveability I have weekended on the boat and it is nice. I think that it is fine to spend a few weeks on but it is too small to live on. My wife and I do fine with the boat but I wouldn't want to have anyone else with us.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Ordered a copy of the owners manuel from them. It came pretty quick. They charged me $20 for it. The copy was pretty bad and it wasn't even in color.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought the boat from a private owner.
Other comments Nice boat with pretty lines. It sails well and handles well. It is a nice boat for the size and it has plenty of room for a couple. I love the boat and the quality of the boat.
