Review of the Hunter 23 by Steve Ullrich

Year built 1985
Location of boat Waconia
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. The pluses outweigh the minuses. I got a lot of boat for the money. It handles very well in normal winds and the cabin is large enough to be functional. It is easy enough to trailer though I leave it on a buoy all summer.
Gear that's been added Replaced the OEM motor mount with an adjustable mount. The original mount is an awkward piece of crap. I have replaced the halyards and sheets, the head sail and the main sail.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Quicker than most in light air. Handles well though a little tender. The cabin layout is very nice. The queen sized berth in the main cabin is very usable for a night or weekend out on the lake.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
