Review of the Hunter 35.5 by Arthur H. Sa

Year built 1993
Location of boat City Island, NY
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, without question. My previous boat was a 1991 Hunter 30, same idea, but smaller. This boat handles well, and is a fast cruiser.
Gear that's been added Ultra-tech halyards, and sheets. All new sails, composit head sails and a dacron main. Batteries
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Pointing, Pointing, and also pointing
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Rain water leaking in cabin from mast step
Sailing characterisitcs The goes to weather great, especially in heavy air, as long as you do a good job of sailing the waves. Especially slow down wind in light air
Motoring characterisitcs Fast.........
Liveability Very good, but not as good as a 50 footer
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Excellent
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any OK
Other comments This boat, as are all Hunter, are under rated performers.
