Review of the Hunter 33_77-83 by Mitchell Naurath

Year built 1978
Location of boat Marco Island, Fl
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? Yes
Owner bought the boat in 2003
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? For sure... I think I'm speaking for most of us when saying,it would be nice to have a 40 footer with roller main
Gear that's been added What I'm most proud of that I added is, new imron paint. It is somewhat of a muted gold color. I'm aware it's not your run of the mill white, black, grey, or blue, which concerned me prior to painting. Only for re-sale, but now that she's painted I'm compleatly satisfied... I also added a new inflatable, VHF's inside
Structural or complex improvements When the boat was hauled last September for bottem paint. I had Marco River Marina re-enforce the propeller strut with glass inside
The boat's best features Headroom, interior layout, "especially the head to aft." Large vee berth, but most of all her sailability..!
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Nothing yet, "knock on teak" I'm most impressed with the original Yanmar. She just won't die...
Sailing characterisitcs In October of 2003 my father
Motoring characterisitcs I truly only have one complaint. At low RPM's the 2 cylinder Yanmar vibrates really bad, I guess it's the nature of the beast being only 2 cylinders..?
Liveability No matter what boat I'm in, as far as small cruising sailboats go, I always think theres room for enlargement
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I have not yet, when I do I will tell about it...
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any She was bought from a friend, and it was, and still is a great experience...
Other comments I would love to talk to other owners of the 33. Especially owners of the design with the sleek cabin top like mine...
