Review of the Hunter 27_75-84 by Warren Renninger

Year built 1980
Location of boat Punta Gorda
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1997
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I wanted a shallow draft weekend/week cruiser that draws less than 3' 6
Gear that's been added Added roller furling Genoa, GPS, new interior cushions and coverings, new curtains, fish finder for shallow waters, bimini, Navico 300cx autopilot, etc.
Structural or complex improvements Not yet, want to add traveler to boom system.
The boat's best features Shallow draft, low price. reasonable size
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Concerned on light construction of hull.
Sailing characterisitcs Terrible weather helm. Makes sailing difficult, make autopilot almost useless.
Motoring characterisitcs Having 10 hp Kubota is nice. Still underpowered. I would recommend 12 to 18 hp.
Liveability Good for folks under 5' 9
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Never have
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
