The boat's best features We are a family of seven, and the Hunter is a great family boat. We had a great fall sailing season despite Isabel. The cabin can accomodate weekend trips without a problem. It is however, a great sailing vessel. Very stable on the Bay despite some stiff fall breezes.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. No problems thus far. I think the aft cabin ceiling is still too low. The engine start key sometimes can get stuck in the start position due to flotation gimick device on the key chain (removed).
Sailing characterisitcs Very stable in 20-25 knots of wind. Sails well in low breezes. Engine is well matched with comfortable cruising with iron sail at 7-9 knots
Motoring characterisitcs As above. Very comfortable cruising.
Liveability Only weekend trips. No problems.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Great service and reliablity at Norton's.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments For our first sailboat experience, it has been truly fun and looking forward to 2004.
