Review of the Hunter 25.5 by Josh Buschman

Year built 1985
Location of boat leamington ON.
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes and no. the one thatwe bought had some good features but not as many as we wanted.
Gear that's been added -1-autohelm2-seccond battery3-boom vang4-mast lights -are going to add shore power, knot meter, portable toilet, anchor roller, swim platform -would like to add a wheel, bimini, larger jib, spinniker
Structural or complex improvements We have re-built the stuffing bo compartment and the fibre glass around it, the chain plates, weak spots in the hull, and are going to do some fibre glass work on the pop-top
The boat's best features 1-the diesel engine 2-furling jib 3-pop-top
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. the engine gets air in the fuel lines easily, the pop-top has a leak in it and is dripping on the seats, some interior lites don't work the depth sounder doesn't work, the hull is flexible, and the stantions arn't very strong
Sailing characterisitcs -we raced once and finisned fourth out of 10 boats -it is a tender boat -isn't quite as stable as we would like -over all it is a diesent sailing boat
Motoring characterisitcs the 8 hp is a little bit low ,it could use some more power into waves
Liveability It is a comfortable boat and will slep 3 or 4 comfortably. The head room isn't bad concidering it is only a 25 foot boat. Anchoring isn't bad it doesn't take much to rock the boat though.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments Over all it is a diesent boat.
