Owner bought the boat in 1995
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? We think the Hunter is the only boat to own. Each time we have gone sailing there have been no problems. A big advantage was the roller furling we added. It allowed us to do every thing from the cockpit. The quality of the Hunter is what everybody notices first and its big interior space. It would be more convenient if the table dropped all the way to the seating area so a bed could be used there. The back berth is a little hard to get in and out of and the forward berth is sometimes difficult to get in to. We will always be Hunter sailors because the company takes care of your concerns just by a phone call. Thanks Hunter for the very romantic sunsets on Slentando and the great family fun!
Gear that's been added CDI roller furling system Gauges Stereo Bimini
Structural or complex improvements no!
The boat's best features Ease of sailing and rigging. Storage Trailers well Loads easily
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The biggest problem is getting in and out of the berthing. Right now I'am getting some vibration from the mast which makes it hard to sleep at night. I think the stays are too tight or I need to run a line from the roller furling to the mast at nignt.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat sails very well with not much effort. When the wind gets above 18 knots you need to stay on top of what you are doing if your wife is with you because it will heal to 25 to 35 degrees easily. Most sailing is very comfortable and enjoyable.
Motoring characterisitcs The motoring is ok but I would advise putting as big a motor as you can on the boat.
Liveability Most of the time very good. We spend more time on our boat than any one on the lake so we find it a get home away form home and so do our grandsons and family members.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Very good!!
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Most of the time they are very helpful but slow.
