Review of the Hunter 30_74-83 by Tyler Sheff

Year built 1979
Location of boat Madiera Beach, FL
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? Yes
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Definatly, the former owner took great care of the boat and rebuilt nearly everything
Gear that's been added Added a 110v fridge that fits nicely under the folddown table, removed the Force 10 propane stove and going to replace with electric stove / oven.
Structural or complex improvements no
The boat's best features Space, for a 30' boat i feel the storage is wonderful, lots of lockers everywhere
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. the i-beam is starting to rust, so that is in line to be replaced, had soome fuel issues, but recently cleaned out the tank, previous owner replaced original engine with 2gm 20 18 hp Yanmar, has plenty of power now, 7 knots @ 3,000 rpms
Sailing characterisitcs does not like to sail close to the wind, built like a rock though, got grounded in a storm where hull took one hell of a beating and sustained NO DAMAGE, I was impressed
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability Plenty of room for myself and two daughters
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
