Review of the Hunter Vision-36 by Gino

Year built 1994
Location of boat New York
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely.
Gear that's been added Garmin 182 Chart Plotter, Magma Propane BBQ.
Structural or complex improvements No. Not necessary.
The boat's best features The boat is equipped with a below deck autopilot, electric winch, electric windlass, inverter and SailMate mainsail stacking system. Easy to sail.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The boom vang gooseneck (which attaches to the foot of the mast) has a design flaw. The gooseneck is forward of the halyards which are aft and to the side of the vang. as you move the boom off centerline, it puts pressure on the boom vang gooseneck.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat handles very well and points better than I thought it would for an unstayed mast with a fractional rig.
Motoring characterisitcs Fine, although some vibration over 3000 RPM. Some difficulty in shifting from neutral to forward or reverse.
Liveability Havent been able to spend more than one night on her yet, so I dont really know, but although a little tight below, and the forward v-birth a little tight for 2, it should be good.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Coney's marine. Terrific.
