Review of the Hunter 23 by David Fleming

Year built 1986
Location of boat Minnesota
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Racing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1986
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I think the boat is a fine one but a one design boat would be preferable for racing
Gear that's been added Track for the geneoa leads. Backstay adjuster. Boomvang. Folding motor mount.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Nice interior room for a boat this size. Good off wind speed.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The winches have lost or broken the top flaring ring.
Sailing characterisitcs It sails well on all points of sail but not up to its rating upwind. It has a relatively heavy weather helm.
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability It's great for a couple, but I would hate to have aboard 5 people which were provided for.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments I think it was a good value but if I get another boat I expect it will be used.
