Review of the Hunter 26 by Rich Prange

Year built 1995
Location of boat central Wi.
The boat is sailed on Rivers
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1995
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Not sure, this was my first experience at purchasing a new boat. And, at my age probably the last. If anything I should have bought earlier.
Gear that's been added Yes: - storeage bracket for the main hatch panels - gps, second anchor, camper top
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features - water ballast/shallow draft- easy to step the mast- comfortable interior
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. - gelcoat voids and breakout at corners- wenches are too small
Sailing characterisitcs - ok for water ballast- reef early
Motoring characterisitcs - ok to manuvre in marinas
Liveability - comfortable considering the price
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) They are batting 5.00 with me. Good about shipping spare parts. But my experience with them and a poor fit on a camper top was unacceptable. Put on hold forever, got the runaround, got now response when asking for assistance. I gave up.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any A dealer in Madison , Wi.I cut a bad deal and he knew it and took advantage of me. Ripped me off on excessory items.
