Review of the Hunter 26.5 by Geoff Sutton

Year built 1987
Location of boat St. Petersburg, FL
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 5-6
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? YES!
Gear that's been added Controls for the outboard, stereo and speakers, aft cabin porthole, grill. Next is roller furling.
Structural or complex improvements Fiberglassed the bow locker to prevent leaks. Added aft cabin porthole. Plan to beef up transom and engine bracket.
The boat's best features Walk through transom, speed, and overall layout.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Poor control with outboard in strong currents, weak motor brackrt, and minor leaks (rain not below waterline).
Sailing characterisitcs Excellent!
Motoring characterisitcs Great once you are moving, terrible turning from a stanstill especially in current.
Liveability Weekend at best.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Minor contact, but so far so good.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments I love it!
