Review of the Hunter 28.5 by thomas mott

Year built 1986  
Location of boat hartwell ga.  
The boat is sailed on Lakes  
How the boat is used Weekends and longer  
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots  
Average size of crew 2-4  
Liveaboard? No  
Owner bought the boat in 2002  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? no  
Gear that's been added electrical head, multi-data repeater, gps, new stereo/cd player, new ma5500 poly planer speakers, all new canvas, bimini, all new interior cushions, interior cabin fans, microwave,  
Structural or complex improvements new floor, new wiring, new plumbing, new water pump, new hatches, new ports, all outside teak refinished,  
The boat's best features sails well, has good head room even though i don't need it.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. the salon table makes it difficult to get around in the cabin, would be nice if it was removable when not needed. head is also poorly designed,doors folding from the inside almost make it impossible to close once you enter but is posible if ou work aroud i but if you are very large forget it. don't invite any large women to go sailng. the floor had to be replaced due to poor design to let water flow freely to the bilge which was no easy task. the travler is an extremely poor design.  
Sailing characterisitcs the boat has sailed well in light and heavy wind  
Motoring characterisitcs seems to motor best around 2100 rpms  
Liveability ok for a weekend with 2 can get by with four but it is tight so you better like them  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any bought the boat from an individual. was not the boat i was looking for but he sold it so cheap i couldn't pass on it, even with the work that had to be done on it still made it a good buy.  
Other comments the 28.5 is a good boat if you don't mind the extemely tight space below deck.
