Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The track for the sliding door into the head is too low, I'm 5'10" and have hit my head on it once every day since I bought the boat.
Sailing characterisitcs I've sailed in everything from dead calm to 40+ knots, and at achor through one direct hit from a waterspout. If you can feel the slightest air on your cheek the boat will sail. She moves easily in the lightest breeze. She is built strong enough to handle rough weather too. I sailed through a 24 hour blow in the middle of the gulf of mexico with 25+ knots and 12' seas with no problems. I took a knock-down from a water spout and annother from too much sail with too much wind, with no damage from either. The boat is fast, the Catalina 30 doesn't stand a chance against her.
Motoring characterisitcs Easy on fuel. Cruises at 6 knots with the Yanmar 12hp. We went from Marathon, FL to Alice Town, Bimini in very light air. The trip is 115 miles (against the 3 knot gulf stream current) in 15 hours motor sailing all the way and used 3 galons of diesel. As with most 2 blade props backing takes some practice.
Liveability The boat is very liveable. Lots of storage, great galley for a boat this size. "v" berth is comfortable. In hot weather at anchor (always facing into the wind) a nice breeze blows through the boat with the forward hatch open and the companionway boards out. The cocpit is agreat gathering place at anchor or under sail.
