Review of the Hunter 23.5 by Paul Brailsford

Year built 1987
Location of boat Mancher by the sea
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength Press here to select
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Not at full price. However I find it an economical used boat to take to and from my mooring once a year. Since I find the raising, and tuning of rigging takes several hours it seems unsuitable for week end day sailing, when the mast has to be unstepped and lowered to trailor it home.
Gear that's been added (1) Installed Jub Roller Furling .
Structural or complex improvements (2)Reinforced fiberglass OB engine mount that was flexing so much with a 9.9hp Suzuki OB mounted on it that I used two galvanized hypotenuse straps to reduce the the stress on FG. Will probably replace bracket next year.
The boat's best features
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Fin keel boat makes a lot of leeway, but neverthe less its makes a nice day sailor.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs
Liveability Never put it to the test but probably would be OK for a young couple.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Bought fro a private party
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments I don't have a Manual. Can it be e mailed?
