Review of the Hunter 326 by Ken Yap

Year built 2002
Location of boat Singapore
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Great boat. Nice shape
Gear that's been added Raytheon Autohelm
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Love the Cockpit and Bimini. Cockpit is spacious and pedestal is from Whitlock (Year 2003 model) which doesn't take up much space. Bimini is a must have in Singapore climate.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Engine cover hinge mounting damaged. Coaming well for sheet leaks water into galley area. Aft bilge recess does not drain to centre
Sailing characterisitcs Very easy to sail and is reasonably fast. Traveller on arch comes in very useful. Could have swore it adds a knot to boat speed when trimmed with traveller. 110% furling headsail seems a tad small. Would be better off with a 120-130% furling headsail.
Motoring characterisitcs Prop kick is very apparent with its stock 2 bladed prop. Top speed of 6 knots is decent but vibration seems alittle high and noise a tad loud. Unless you're dead tire, you probably won't use the rear berth when engine is running.
Liveability Spacious with good height. Not enough opennings for warm/hot weather.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
Other comments On the surface, Hunter boats looks good with its clean lines and beautiful cabin features. However, inspect with "microscope" and it reveals some quality control issues. Example, wiring mistake in DC
