Review of the Hunter 27_75-84 by Mike O'Keefe

Year built 1984
Location of boat Ponctrain
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1989
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes! she sails to the wind great
Gear that's been added nav systems, sails, and a great bottle of rum
Structural or complex improvements reinforcement of the fiberglass in the cockpit. On the bow cleats.
The boat's best features how she sails into the wind
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. that damn westerbeake engine is too small. 10 hp is underpowered.
Sailing characterisitcs never a problem handling this boat. It has been a fun boat to own. can sail her easily by yourself.
Motoring characterisitcs piece of !$#@$
Liveability If you can sleep in a tent, you can sleep on this boat.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) pretty good. broke a stanchion once and called Hunter for information on where to buy a match. They where very helpful, and the repacement was reasonable.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any dealers are in the buisness for making money as well as brokers. If you watch what your doing you can find a good Hunter from private owners
Other comments Well, I've had this boat for the best of 15 years now, and I guess that I'm pleased with the price and enjoyment that I've had with it. If I buy another, it will be a hunter. (without that damn Westerbeake)
