Review of the Hunter 336 by J. Leithead

Year built 1995
Location of boat Toronto - Canada
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2002
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I think so... but there are some things I don't care for about the boat.
Gear that's been added No
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Live-ability is great. Bright and roomy. Still getting use to the boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The transom design is very noisy when there are any waves in the harbour. The aft cabin door latch ... rattles a lot. I am having a problem with the head leaking - even after a re-build it is still leaking!
Sailing characterisitcs A reef is good when the winds are over 15 knots. This keeps the crew happy!
Motoring characterisitcs Rough seas can be calmed a little with the head sail deployed. Helps to balance the boat and cut the waves.
Liveability Great!
