Review of the Hunter 30_74-83 by Jack Page

Year built 1980
Location of boat Muskegon, MI
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, Alot of boat for the money
Gear that's been added Combo speed, depth, GPS, chartplotter, fishfinder
Structural or complex improvements None
The boat's best features Tons of room down below. I stand 6'2" and can just barely stand straight up( something I couldn't do in my 24' Bristol. I also like the wheel sterring to the tiller( more room for guests)
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Very loud water pump. Drawers in base of cabin seetee have to be removed in order to fold bed down. Biggest problem has to be all the tightening bolts on the ports are cracked or broken.
Sailing characterisitcs Sails well on all points of sail( although we really don't push the boat much)
Motoring characterisitcs Much better backing movements than my old Bristol
Liveability Works great for what we do with it
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) e-mailed for plans for a cradle. Never recieved a response
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
