The boat's best features Great beginner boat. Sails real well, easy to launch and very affordable. Boat has lots of space, in both the cockpit and the cabin.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Definitely could use a backstay for additional mast support, especially when sailing downwind. Needs a cunningham for better sail trim (Im adding one for the 1998 season).
Sailing characterisitcs Boat is very stable. She sails real well on all points of sail, as long as theres not TOO much wind. Over 20 knots really overpowers the boat, even with the main reefed.
Motoring characterisitcs Still using the origianl 3.5 hp Tohatsu outboard. Engine doesnt have a reverse gear, but you can achieve reverse by loosening the locking screw and spinning engine around. Not a wonderful move, but it will get you out of the slip. Boat handles well under power, except for the loud vibration through the hull from the engine.
Liveability Havent tried an overnight stay yet.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Purchased the boat from Wohlson Marine in Lancaster, PA. The service has been slow, but great so far. Had the bottom sanded and painted last year and then did a great job.
