Review of the Hunter 23.5 by Charlie Stovall

Year built 1994
Location of boat Lake Harris, Fla.
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added VHF
Structural or complex improvements Installed stern rail seats, a good move to make... Keep in mind this is just a 23.5 , not a blue water cruiser...
The boat's best features The mast raising system...
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Everything about the boat is fine equal to or better than any others this size.....The trailer sucks...
Sailing characterisitcs A little tender until you get used to it...A perfect way to get your wife to stay at the marina :-))
Motoring characterisitcs No problems with an evenrude 9.9 HP.
Liveability Liveability is zero... OK for weekends though...
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) No problems.. Good advice and quick service.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought from individual owner.
Other comments A very acceptable weekender....I am surprised the manufacturer got away with the weak trailer design. Hard to relax when towing over 35 mph.
