Review of the Hunter 30_74-83 by Duncan Gray

Year built 1980
Location of boat Orange Park, Florida
The boat is sailed on Rivers
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, my wife and I have really enjoyed this sailboat.
Gear that's been added I've added the following: cockpit cushions, boom vang, self-tailing mainsail winch, new jib and mainsail
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Very easy to sail.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I don't like the way the boat pulls to port in reverse.
Sailing characterisitcs Sailing is easy in moderate to heavier winds. In really light winds I mostly ride the current.
Motoring characterisitcs I don't really like the way it behaves in reverse. It wickedly pulls to port. The 12hp engine is all that I need for I'm not a power boater.
Liveability I've only spent a couple of nights on board. It's not the Marriot but it is liveable.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) I had to deal with them once. I had a good experience and they were helpful.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I had a good experience with the broker in Orange Park. They appear to have a lot of repeat business, so I think they've got a good reputation.
Other comments We think that it is a great first boat for us. We really enjoy sailing it and we're having a blast.
