Review of the Hunter Vision-36 by Bill Lamm

Year built 1994
Location of boat Marina del Rey
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength Press here to select
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Absolutely!!
Gear that's been added Dodger, bimini, radar, autopilot, gps
Structural or complex improvements none
The boat's best features ease of handling, I have an inexperienced crew (wife) and mostly sail the boat single handed. She is good at the helm, so I can do most everything else to sail the boat by myself
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. no major problems so far.
Sailing characterisitcs very stable even in 25 kts in open seas. Not great upwind, but makes up for it on other sailing angles.
Motoring characterisitcs We can get 6-7 kts when really pushing (2500 - 3000 rpm). Motorsailing in the morning light air to Catalina is easy and effective.
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Hunter has been great. They even made me a line hanger to match the originals even though they had been out of production for several years.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any bought the boat from Bob Leslie Yachts in Marina del Rey. Good experience with good connections
Other comments very spacious for the size. We hand the ability and opportunity to purchase newer and larger boats, but could not find anything that met our needs as well as this boat.
