Review of the Hunter 25_73-83 by Peter Barton

Year built 1978
Location of boat Smith Point Marina, Reedville ,VA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I would definitely buy my Cherubini design 25 foot Hunter again. Many sailers have told me what a nice boat I have and what a great deal I made.
Gear that's been added I have added a battery re-charging system, and a cut-off system to prevent battery burn-out. I hope to add a Bimini this summer (2002). I replaced the old alcohol stove with a propane stove.
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Easily sailed by one person even without a jib furler. Very responsive to the helm - almost like sailing a Day Sailer. Fast and sails best in 10-15 knot winds. A super boat for 2-3 persons who wnat to cruise around the Chesapeake Bay - draws minimal water-about 4 feet.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
