Review of the Hunter 240 by Dan Ebert

Year built 1998
Location of boat Brookville, Indiana
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes and No!Want a bigger boat to have more room on weekend stays. Looking at H260 with marine head, wheel steering(for wife) and inboard motor. The H240 is still a great boat.
Gear that's been added Electric start for the eight H.P. out board.Jib furling system.Binimi.Cockpit Cushions.Doyle Stack-Pack main sail furling system.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features Able to trailer. Have taken to Lake Erie.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Raising the rudder out of the water.Trailer could have rollers.Jib cleats in cock pit area for solo sailing.
Sailing characterisitcs Nothing special. Water ballast more touchey.
Motoring characterisitcs Had to get use to the offset of the outboard. Boat tends to want to go to the port side after backing out and trying to go forward. Have to rev up motor to straight out.
Liveability Fair, based on my wife and I standards. We are in out late 50's and want just a liitle more comfort.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Good
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Good
