If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes so far it has been everything I have expected.
Gear that's been added Dealer installed:CDI furlerStern seatsTohatsu 8hpI've added:VHFCompassHand held GPSCruising chute
Structural or complex improvements No but I plan to build the storage cabinet this winter that is featured in photo forum section
The boat's best features So far it has proven to be a quality boat for the money. It is quick in light air. If sailed with a reef in heavier air it is very predictable
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. The clam cleats for the jib sheets are worthless. The screw that holds the support arm for the front hatch has already pulled out of the fiberglass headliner.
Sailing characterisitcs If you are new to sailing or have only sailed on large boats it will seam unstable at first. However if you carry a balanced sail plan in heavy air by either reefing the main or putting a furl in the jib it sails great. I have sailed several days in study winds over 20 knots. In light air you will eat other similar sized boats up.
Motoring characterisitcs If you sail in tidal waters get atleast an 8hp. I have not had a problem with my Tohatsu yet. Prior to purchasing this boat I had never heard of Tohatsu. I still get questions about the motor.
Liveability Wouldn't want to live on it even if my wife threw me out of the house. However it is great for extended weekends. We have 2 children ages 3 and 6. We have made several 2-3 day cruises and they love it.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) They were great. I contacted them with assistance of my dealer when the snap shackle on the bottom block of the main sheet pulled out and bent. They mailed a new one free of charge, and I didn't miss a weekend of sailing!
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought the boat from
