Review of the Hunter 30_74-83 by Larry Cost

Year built 1978
Location of boat Lake Lanier, Ga
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Definitely would buy the boat again. The boat sails easily and has more than enough room for our family of 4 to spend weekends or longer in confort.
Gear that's been added No.
Structural or complex improvements No.
The boat's best features The room inside the cabin. It has more room that most 30 footers.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Some fuel problems with the Yanmar. But nothing major.
Sailing characterisitcs Points well. Moves well in light air, with the correct sail configuration.
Motoring characterisitcs Some people say the boat is underpowered. This could be where you experience strong current or wave action. On the lake, the power is fine.
Liveability Very good. Could carry more water, but since we don't cruise, this is not a problem.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
