Review of the Hunter 240 by Eric C Lindstrom

Year built 2000
Location of boat Ithaca, New York
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard?
Owner bought the boat in 1999
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I'm sure I would. Having enjoyed one superb season of amazing sailing on this boat I couldn't be happier. The only drawback is that the season had to end.
Gear that's been added Radio/VHF console, changed running rigging, other minor changes
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features The ease of trailering. I'm able to step and unstep the mast by myself ... virtually with one hand. This makes it a pleasure to bring the boat to other bodies of water other boaters can't.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Main concerns were the jam cleats (since upgraded) and the HUGE space in the cockpit over the swim platform. Still working on this issue.
Sailing characterisitcs The boat handles amazingly well under most all conditions. We actually hit 10 knots this past season and the water ballast kicked in and made the trip a dream.
Motoring characterisitcs We have an 8hp Merc that pushes the boat in and out of the marina and along the Seneca-Cayuga Canal with no issues.
Liveability Very comfortable for an overnight or two.
