Review of the Hunter 340 by Jerome Nadler

Year built 2000
Location of boat PORT JEFFERSON, NY
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? WOULD HAVE TRIED TO BUY BOAY FROM ANOTHER HUNTER DEALER LI YACHT SALES, BAYSHORE, NY SHOULD BE AVOIDED POST SALE POLICY WITH PROBLEMS HAS BEEN VERY POOR AND ALMOST UNRESPONSIVE- HAD TO WRITE TO HUNTER MARINE DIRECTLY TO GET SOME MAJOR PROBLEMS RESOLVED THE SWITCH FROM A FIBERGLASS ARCH TO A SS ARCH IS A POOR MISTAKE ON THE PART OF HUNTER-MOSTLY ESTICALLY
Gear that's been added
Structural or complex improvements HAVING AC ADDED THIS WINTER
The boat's best features EASE OF SAILING WITH IN- MAST MAIN FURLING LOVE THE INSIDE CABIN AND BRIGHTNESS
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. HAD TROUBLE WITHE THE 2 BIMINIS NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY-POORLY INSTALLED MANY FLAWS IN GELCOAT- SEEMS LIKE GELCOAT IS MUCH THINNER THAN IN MY OLD HUNTER 36
Sailing characterisitcs HARD TO HANDLE WITH WIND GREATER THAN 20 KNOTS
Motoring characterisitcs GOOD
Liveability OK FOR A FEW DAYS, QUITE CONFORTABLE
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) SOMEWHAT SATISFACTORY, AND A BIT SLOW TO REPOND
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any AS NOTED ABOVE WOULD AVOID CERTAIN DEALERS-HAVE NO REGARD FOR YOU AND THE BOAT YOU JUST BOUGHT POST SALE
Other comments GREAT IMPROVEMENT IN DESIGN AND USE OF INSIDE CABIN SPACE
