How the boat is used Weekends and longer

Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1992
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added Profurl jib furler, transom ladder, depth sounder, M.O.B. rescue system, dripless shaft seal, porta-potty, pressurized water system, fly for the cockpit, new radio antenna, new mainsail, new genoa 135.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Easy to handle, easy to work on.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Rudder post broke, consequently lost rudder because it didn't float. Some problems with the Yanmar (original) engine.
Sailing characterisitcs She sails very well. Doesn't point as well as she should. Puts up quite well with heavy seas and heavy winds. Can be loosy goosy on following seas.
Motoring characterisitcs She motors relatively well, however, the 8 horse SB8 (Yanmar) was never powerful enough for that boat. She probably cruises at about 5.5 knots. Walks very badly in reverse and is slow to respond to prop thrust (in reverse). This boat should probably have a different prop. I did attempt to put another prop with more favorable pitch but it wouldn't install because there is so little clearance between prop and rudder.
Liveability Fairly comfortable for about 3 days. Then its limited size becomes more and more apparent. In general, the boat is well laid-out.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Quite good! Technicians have satisfactorily answered my questions.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Bought privately.
Other comments She was built quite well as most boats were at that time (1977). She is solid, performs well and her lines are more attractive than many "modern" boats.
