Review of the Hunter 33_77-83 by Peter

Year built 1984
Location of boat Lake shore Yacht Club
The boat is sailed on The Great Lakes
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1998
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? I am completing satisfied with the boat, the headroom is great and it sails fine. We have taken two to four week holidays and it has proven to the challenge of all weather. If I were to find a weak spot it would be that it is on a 15hp diesel engine could sue maybe 22hp or a three-blade prop. Also being the original engine it is fairly noisy.
Gear that's been added I have added GPS and depth and new depth and Knot meter.
Structural or complex improvements I have done some small work in the galley. Removed the small oval sliding doors to make a full length sliding doors to the pantry
The boat's best features I am a tall person and headroom was a big issue when I bought the boat.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Replaced original Knot and Depth
Sailing characterisitcs One thing that I find is that the boat will lean quickly. At first I had a tendency to reef or lower my sails until I discovered that it will lean about 15d then hold its own pretty well.
Motoring characterisitcs Pulls to port in reverse and is under-powered in heavy winds
Liveability Four weeks for two people is quite comfortable, With more than two people, two weeks become cramped
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) no
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The transaction went smoothly.
Other comments I am developing leaks into the boat from the gunrails and will have to reseat several bolts after this haulout.
