Review of the Hunter 37-cutter by Roy Edwards

Year built 1983
Location of boat Gulf coast of FL
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 16-22 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes, I had sailed on this boat for 5 years before buying from it from a friend.
Gear that's been added Just before I bought it new sails, new electronics, new canvas, new batterys. Hope to switch to propane stove soon.
Structural or complex improvements Just worn out plastic portholes
The boat's best features Flexability of the sailplan. Stay sail and main in 20+ knots makes it a breeze to solo and to tack, Off the wind it needs a pole (none yet) but a preventer on the main and staysail worked great with 15 knots on the tail.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
Sailing characterisitcs great sailing from 5 knots up to solid 25 knots. Very solid boat, tracks great.
Motoring characterisitcs Motors at 6 knots @ 2200rpm, 2 blade prop has hard pull to port in reverse. Maybe switching to a 3 blade.
Liveability Lots of storage, wish the aft cabin was larger, nice chart table, great dinning table. Forward berth is to short for my 6'3" frame, I'm working on some changes.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any
