Review of the Hunter 37 by Joris hitt

Year built 1987
Location of boat San Diego
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew solo
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes
Gear that's been added New main sail, skylights, floating spinnaker foot, Laptop navigation, gps, radar
Structural or complex improvements getting ready to re-do main sheet blocks and solid vang system. nothing major really
The boat's best features takes waves well, solid straight sailor in 20knots
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Main travler and sheeting purchases are feeble. Furling (hood original)not real friendly, would prefer spreaders that don't sweep back.
Sailing characterisitcs loves to reach, fairly responsive however needs to be reefed sooner than later when winds start to build above 17k
Motoring characterisitcs Yanmar 30 with 3 blade, boats freeboard catches wind pretty well in and out of slip. Motor cuts out intermittenly, seems to be air in the lines but I can't find the culprit?
Liveability Very comfortable, but a 45 would be great!
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) none
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any n/a
Other comments Great boat for the money
