Review of the Hunter 380 by Danny Reid

Year built 2001
Location of boat Lewisville Lake
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? After a long time I got my 380 a 2002 model. My dealer and I have worked together for years since my 5.8 Nacri cat. I love the boat it is equiped and fast. I would by it again in a minute. Lavida Starships takes care of my problems
Gear that's been added The Boo Bonnet has: Panda 4.5 KW Genset 2.5 KW Inverter Air Conditioner Refridge
Structural or complex improvements
The boat's best features Fast an Quite operations the Panda Genset is quite the fans on the AC are twice as loud.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I have had to have the engine exchanger bleed to get rid of the air. I have a small leak on the mast to the cabin.
Sailing characterisitcs It will do anything you want except for wing on wing down wind.
Motoring characterisitcs At 2 k RPM the engine is quite and running 4 knots.
Liveability Great we will move it to the Gulf in three years and head to the islands. (With a lot more equipment and experence.)
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) None so far but some issues are coming up.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I bought the boat from Lavida StarShips and we have been friends for years. They will work to make every happy. This assumes you are a sailor and not a motorhome user.
Other comments Great boat it is a keeper.
