Review of the Hunter Vision-32 by James Hewette

Year built 1990
Location of boat Tampa Bay, FL
The boat is sailed on Open ocean
How the boat is used Multi-week coastal cruising
Normal wind strength less than 10 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. She's been a great Intermediate boat for coastal cruising especially for shallow waters like the Bahamas.
Gear that's been added
Structural or complex improvements I found the structural design of the jib stay to be inadequate. The chainplate is directly mounted to the deck and not thru bolted to the hull underneath, necessitating and upgrade for added security which costs about $1000 to perform. Without this upgrade, the deck is likely to break at the relatively unsupported chainplate under stronger wind conditions.
The boat's best features Shallow draft and spacious cabin area.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Forestay deck plate is under-designed and needs to be thru-bolted to the hull.
Sailing characterisitcs Nice in light wind environment. She'll cruise at hull speed (I've seen 7.3 knots) on a beam reach at 10 knots! Lots of fun!
Motoring characterisitcs Motoring short distances is adequate, but don't expect to cruise for days on motor alone with any great speed.
Liveability Quite liveable for weeks on end with 2 aboard. 4 would be fine for a weekend.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) They seemed unconcerned with the design flaw that I have found which is unfortunate.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any N/A
