Review of the Hunter 240 by Steven Hildebrand

Year built 2001
Location of boat Lake Tenkiller Oklahoma
The boat is sailed on Lakes
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2000
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Yes. But I would not pay in advance. It would be a % down and balance due upon complete delivery.
Gear that's been added Garmin depth finder/GPS. AM/FM/Cassette. Fender holders and fenders.
Structural or complex improvements No
The boat's best features Price
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Rudder squeeks. Battery tie downs broke immediately.
Sailing characterisitcs Sails good to wind not so good down wind. 6 knotts is max.
Motoring characterisitcs With the 8.8 cavitation and little control. With the 9.9 sweet performance.
Liveability For a weekender or day sailing it is great.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Far better than my dealer yet less than what I was told to expect.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Nightmare on Elm Street.
Other comments A very tender boat. Not fast by any means. A comfortable attractive cruiser.
