Review of the Hunter 270 by Scott Blahnik

Year built 2001
Location of boat Madisonville, LA
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2001
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Definetely
Gear that's been added It came loaded, including the pressurized water w/ shower and gray non-skid . I've just needed some docklines and bumpers which the dealer supplied. Bought "foul weather" gear and needed it!
Structural or complex improvements Dealer modifications: 2 battery system relocated
The boat's best features Right now, it's perfect, due to being brand new-I only hope I can keep it up.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. I expected certain problems ahead of time from following the forum. So far, all I've had to do is some detailing and using "CETOL" on the exterior teak components.
Sailing characterisitcs
Motoring characterisitcs Have motored 36 nautical miles, at 5.7 knots.
Liveability
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any)
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any It's been a rewarding experience. My dealer continues to meet with me, and has guided me through this break in period. He is critical of my knowledge of knots, however!
Other comments I came close to getting the salty old Pacific Seacraft Flicka, but I'm glad I went ahead with the new Hunter. I don't have to worry about fixing somebody else's problems. The Flicka would be nice for deep water, or cruising, but that's not the kind of sailing I plan on.
