Review of the Hunter 36 by Cae and Robert Morgan

Year built 2006
Location of boat Magnolia, WA (Seattle)
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Weekends and longer
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 2006
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Upgrade the toliet. Like previous postings, toliet is horrible, and we have had quite a few issues. Increase battery capacity. With normal operation, batteries do not last as long as expected.
Gear that's been added Fully loaded with the addition of a standard Raymarine autopilot.
Structural or complex improvements Bimini, connector and dodger for NorthWest sailing enjoyment.
The boat's best features The overall room and storage of the cabin area, and the Corian countertops.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Toliet and batteries are our two biggest issues.
Sailing characterisitcs Good upwind characteristics. A little slow going downwind due to having swept stays.
Motoring characterisitcs We take her 5-6 knots at 2800 RPMs.
Liveability Excellent.
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Had a question about the configuration in the buying process. They promptly contacted the dealer who followed up with us on our question.
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any Signature Yachts in Seattle has been great. We dealt with Chapin Day, and he was great. Kirk in service has also been a solid part of he new buying experience.
Other comments If you are in cold weather, you need to add the diesel heater. It is great, and makes cold weather sailing (9 months of the year) enjoyable.
