Review of the Hunter 23 by Vick Colbert

Owner bought the boat in 1991  
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? For my purposes the Hunter 23 is a very adequate boat. It is user friendly, with a generous, cockpit, and in a race environment competes well with other boats in its same general concept.  
Gear that's been added Just a few odds, and, ends like tunes, boomvang, windex, vhf radio.  
Structural or complex improvements None  
The boat's best features As a general purpose boat, the 23 fits very nicely. It is not the consumate racer, nor, cruiser, but for all around good times it has a special place.On prarie lakes that I sail, fronts known as "blue Northerns", (among genuine okies,) will test you on occasions, when you least expect it. Winds in the forty mile an hour range can grab your attention. The 23 has never failed to be a trustworth, dependable little boat.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Its been trouble free  
Sailing characterisitcs The only comment, that may be negative, would be, I get a little outpointed by some boats, in heavy air.Could be I could use some sailing lessons  
Motoring characterisitcs The 5 hp Tohatsu has been very adequate. On one occasion when the wind was blowing too hard, in my estimation to raise the sails, after anchoring overnight in a cove, It drove the 23 just fine. The waves were washing the deck frequently, and, she would stall for a monment then continue on until the next big wave.  
Liveability Wouldn't want to for very long, but for a night or two, its okay  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Hunter is a reputable company that stands behind its products, and, has exhibited genuine concern with customer satisfaction.  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any I bought the boat from me, when it came time to dissolve my boat dealership, during the crunch of '91.
