Review of the Hunter 146 by Michael

If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? Definately

The boat's best features Its small size fits easily in a garage bu is still large enough to take the family out.  
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. Requests for a H146 specific owner's manual have gone unanswered. Being my first boat, I had to figure out many rigging prodecures on my own.  
Sailing characterisitcs Boat gains headway easily in light winds and is fairly forgiving when you linger too long in the no sail zone.  
Motoring characterisitcs The 2.5hp Tohatsu has plenty of power to get in and out of tight marinas. However the 146 stern design makes it difficult to turn sharply or spin the morer to reverse. It is a long way fronm the cockpit to the motor mount.  
Liveability No cabin! Sugest bringing tent and sleeping bag and sleep on shore.  
The owner's experience in dealing with Hunter (if any) Tried to Email regarding the lack of an owners manual. No answer. Telephone conversations also led to the run around.  
The owner's experience with the boat dealer or broker, if any The broker (The Sailing Life, Portland OR) was helpful with my purchase. However, I wanted to purchase with a credit card on a Saturday. The broker did not have the ability to process the transaction. I had to wait until Monday.  
Other comments A fantastic boat!! I just wish that Hunter was a little more forthcoming on spesific information regarding new products
