| If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? | Yes! I had a Catalina 27 for several years but I really like the Hunter 22 for the type of sailing we do. It is only my wife and I who sail. Our four boys aren't really interested. I would recommend this boat to anyone. I would like to obtain more info on the boat. |
| Gear that's been added | I have not added any gear. I am thinking about a knot meter and depth meter. |
| Structural or complex improvements | None up to now. |
| The boat's best features | I really like the way it handles. It goes really well in light to moderate air. It is somewhat disappointing in heavy air and doesn't respond to the helm as well. |
| Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc. | Nothing so far. It will need some deck and hull work in the near future but mainly just cosmetic. |
| Sailing characterisitcs | As I said above, it does really well in light to moderate air but is somewhat disappointing in heavy air. It is sluggish and overpowered by heavy air and doesn't respond as well to the helm. I attribute this to it being a swing keel. I have be a little dissapointed in how it points to the wind. |
| Motoring characterisitcs | It motors well. The only problem I had was when the rudder kicked up and I was unaware and turned it into the propeller. No real damage but it gave me a scare. The rudder feel is harder under motor. |
| Liveability | It is too small to live aboard. It is perfect for our day sailing and quite comfortable for two to four people. |
