Review of the Hunter 26.5 by ted

Year built 1989
Location of boat barnegat bay, n.j.
The boat is sailed on Bays, sounds, or protected salt water
How the boat is used Day sailing
Normal wind strength 10-15 knots
Average size of crew 2-4
Liveaboard? No
Owner bought the boat in 1996
If the clock could be turned back, would owner buy again? want a boat that will outperform many up to 32'. easy to maintain. will be the love of your life. want to teach people with a tiller. excellent general performance. will keep its value. then get a hunter 26.5 - if you can get anyone to part with theirs.
Gear that's been added in near future, assymetrical spinnaker
Structural or complex improvements none
The boat's best features ease of handling, excellent performance for small cruiser/racer. quite large enough for medium length trips of one-three nights. if critical, cabin not up to this year's designs of hunter boats. have noticed that generally more recent hunters are sold more on cabin layout, etc. than on sailing abilities. also, it would, at times be preferable that the foresail fairleads were adjustable. but even so, we have overtaken much larger sailboats on close to broad reaches. we have only original production u.k. sails. if they were produced now, hunters will sell a lot.
Problem areas in terms of design, materials, maintenance, etc.
